DDR2 SDRAM maksudnya double-data-rate two synchronous dynamic random access memory. Merupakan evolusi dari DDR SDRAM. Kelebihan utama adalah penghantaran data melalui data bas adalah dua kali ganda berbanding DDR SDRAM . Melalui isyarat bas dalam sistem komputer, DDR2 SDRAM menggunkan operasi untuk sel memori dengan kadar separuh bagi sistem jam ( half clock rate). Hanya suku kadar transfer data berbanding DDR ,jadi ia semakin laju. Menggunakan isyarat signal yang berbeza dan kadar voltage yang rendah untuk memberikan prestasi penghantaran data yang lebih berkesan berbanding DDR SDRAM.
